There is a bit of a fare war going on to Europe right now. Flights to Munich, Frankfurt, Spain, Helsinki, Brussels, Zurich, and many other cities and regions are for sale for under $800 - sometimes with dates available in the peak travel season of July and August. Unfortunately, SLC airport itself is excluded from every sale I can find, but nearby airports like Denver, Boise, and Los Angeles have some great deals to Europe.
Delta, United, and American are all running last-minute weekend specials for travel this weekend. You can leave Friday or Saturday and return Monday or Tuesday. Los Angeles is available for only $143rt, Billings for $200rt, and San Diego for $240rt.
Delta has flights to Los Angeles in September, October, and the first half of November on sale for $142rt. Most dates in that time period are available, so take a nice weekend trip to the beach, visit Disneyland, or see family and friends.
Is participating in the famous tomato fight at the La Tomatina festival in Buñol, Spain on your bucket list? Cross it off this August with this great deal to Valencia from Pocatello! Delta and Air France have flights to Spain on sale from the smaller airports around SLC including Pocatello, Vernal, Rock Springs, Cedar City, Boise, etc. La Tomatina falls on August 27th this year, so gather up some friends and make unforgettable memories pelting them with ripe, gushy tomatoes!
Frontier Airlines is offering a 4th of July coupon code for 20% off flights during the period of July 12th-December 12th (except during Thanksgiving). You must purchase by midnight tonight. Just enter promo code RGIFT2U when searching for flights. After the discount, I was able to find a one-way non-stop to Denver for $57.38 on July 17th, but that’s just one example. Keep in mind that Frontier now even charges for carry-on bags. More details about the promo can be found at http://www.flyfrontier.com/rgift2u and more details about their baggage fees can be found at http://www.flyfrontier.com/optional-service-fees.
It’s rare to find good deals to Europe in the summer, and this one has a slight catch. It’s valid from nearly every airport around SLC, but not SLC itself. However, with a little willingness to drive or creativity, you can save hundreds compared to flying out of SLC. Valid airports include Boise, Vernal, Moab, Cedar City, Pocatello, Las Vegas, Rock Springs, Jackson, and more.
Is a trip to Japan high on your list? If so, Alaska and Hawaiian have a great deal to Osaka for late summer and fall travel. Stopping in Hawaii along the way, you can get this fare as low as $632 round trip. Available dates are pretty sparse, but Tuesdays and Wednesdays look better. I have found dates from early July through December.
American Airlines has flights to Bogota, Colombia (BOG) on sale right now for $500, round-trip, which is about $300 less than usual! I just returned from a two-week trip to Colombia and loved the beautiful and varied landscapes, the warm and friendly people, and the perfect weather. Spend your time strolling the streets and museums of Bogota, partying in Medellin, rafting and bungy jumping in San Gil, or hop a flight to San Andreas or Providencia for a pristine Caribbean island experience.
Though this isn’t bookable directly from Salt Lake City, $565 is a great fare all the way to Cusco, the main gateway to Machu Picchu! Flights between Lima and Cusco alone are usually in the $150-200 range alone. Combine this with a cheap Alaska Airlines flight using the $50 coupon to Los Angeles to connect.
